RadioActive: A Dance Party for KCRW
237 photos
On Saturday, April 11, KCRW hosted RadioActive, a Spring dance party featuring the station’s own skilled selectors at The Legendary Park Plaza in downtown Los Angeles, a beautiful space that is not normally open to the public.
This was the first time KCRW put on a dance event featuring station DJ’s even though many of them have headlined some of the biggest venues in the world independently -- from the dance mecca of Ibiza and Central Park’s Summer Stage in NYC to Coachella and the Winter Music Conference.

Oscar Ball Food & Wine Preview
46 photos
Just days before the 81st Academy Awards the press was treated to a preview of some of the delicious items that would be served at the Governor's Ball following the award ceremony.
The menu was concocted by celebrity Master Chef Wolfgang Puck, who will celebrate his 15th consecutive year as the Ball's Master Chef. Mini Kobe burgers and spicy tuna miso hand rolls along with Oscar shaped appetizers were available for tasting. Executive Pastry Chef Sherry Yard showcased the desserts that would be served to the high profile guests including mini chocolate Oscar statues dusted with edible 24k gold powder.
Representatives from Moet & Chandon, Patron Spirits and Sterling Vineyards were on hand to pour drinks that are to be served alongside Puck and Yard's dishes. Moet & Chandon poured White Star and Grand Vintage bubbly for guests. Patron Spirits mixed the Governor's Ball Ultimat Blue Martini while Sterling Vineyards poured Red Carpet Reserve Cabernet and Gold Standard Reserve Chardonnay.
Event producer Cheryl Cecchetto called the Governor's Ball theme a "visual dialogue between East and West. Eclectic Asian elements, inspired by nature's earth, air, water, wood and fire, are fused with contemporary design to provide a perfect sanctuary to celebrate in comfort and in style."
For the 1500 guests that will be attending, the 2009 Governor's Ball will deploy 900 staff and 250 culinary staff members. They will serve 500 pounds of wild caught salmon, 1200 pounds of Maine lobster, 15 pounds of caviar, 1200 oysters, 7200 individual shrimp all washed down with 1200 bottles of Moet & Chandon Champagne and 1512 bottles of Sterling Wine.
