Haute Dogs presents the 9th Annual Howl'OWeen Parade and Pet Adoption Fair.
Everyone loves a parade! And what makes this one even more special is that it celebrates man's (and woman's) best friend. You have to hand it to their owners outstanding and imaginative creativity, not only were there matching and cohesive theme driven costumes but actual floats! Hey, what is a parade without floats? Not only do over 600 dogs get to strut their stuff but thousands of people get to have fun along the Long Beach Belmont Shores parade route.
To make it an even more special day, there was bulldog kissing booth, tons of vendors with free doggie stuff and the whole event is to raise money for various animal care services and beach clean up. Bow Wow Wow!

Million dollar question of the day: How could Venice Beach possibly get any cooler?
Build a brand spanking new $2.4-million Venice Beach Skate Park with the gorgeous Pacific Ocean as a backdrop and have the original Dogtown and Z -Boys Skate Crew, Tony Alva, Jay Adams, Jesse Martinez and Geri Lewis among other original skateboarders inaugurate the grand opening.
The 16,000-square-foot facility near Windward Avenue and Ocean Front Walk features rails, ramps, steps and mulitple bowls resembling swimming pools. Word on the street is that local skaters Lewis and Martinez were integral with their input in creating the arena honoring the heartland and birthplace of progressive skateboarding in the 1970's the around the Santa Monica and Venice area.
The first skate park of its kind built on the coast, by skaters for skaters, there is no place in the world like Venice.

Over the years, the Abbot Kinney Festival has grown to become the second largest community event of its kind in the region. Almost 150,000 people who reside in communities throughout Southern California attended the festival celebrating 25 years of giving in Venice.
Venice's unique creative side shined bright with music, art, shopping, kids rides, a petting zoo, food, beer gardens and fun all jam packed into this one day only a year extra special event.

Huntington Beach came out to celebrate and enjoy the festivities in the perfect California sun, bask at the surfers in the red tide and show some serious hometown pride.

Malibu is legend for its tasty waves and the world famous Surfrider Beach was the perfect backdrop where tons of boys, girls, men and woman of all ages came out to represent at the Malibu Surfing Association Classic.
The MSC is the premier competition in the Coalition of Surfing Clubs annual series. The MSA held its first contest at Malibu in 1963 and has been hosting the MSA Classic continuously since 1987. This club-level, invitational contest at Surfrider Beach, Malibu has more than 275 invited athletes representing elite surfing clubs from California, Hawaii, the East Coast, Japan, and Australia.

From The Streets Of Iran featuring graffiti-based works on paper by urban artists from Iran: ICY, SOT, FRZ, MAD, and CK1.
Crewest Art Gallery, located in downtown Los Angeles, does it again and brings you a most special exhibit from a place where there is very little freedom of anything, let alone expression.
Street art in Iran is most unwelcome by the government and curating this show drew many challenges that are rarely, if ever seen here in the good old U.S. of A. More then two dozen pieces were deemed unsuitable for shipping to the U.S after being inspected by a postal worker in Tabriz, Iran. Due to the political and sensitive nature, Crewest had to exercise caution with added security, major crowd control and inspection of back packs. A small price to pay for beauty and freedom.

PASADENA, CA (July 21, 2009) -- English Premier League giant Chelsea FC squared off against Italian Serie A Champion Inter Milan at the Rose Bowl Tuesday night.

The match, attended by over 81,000 fans, was part of the World Football Challenge, a six-city tournament featuring four of the best club teams in the world. It was the first match against his former team for Inter manager Jose Mourinho after his exit from the London squad.

Chelsea's precise passing and stifling defense would prove too much for the Italian side to over come. With a rocket of a goal in the first half by star striker Didier Drogba and a second half penalty goal by Frank Lampard, Chelsea took the win 2-0.

THE LEGENDARY BELMONT TUNNEL
“A Tribute to the Birth of Los Angeles Graffiti Art”
With the influx of Hip Hop culture from the East Coast in the early 1980’s, the graffiti movement began to take shape in Los Angeles. Young graffiti artists began searching for their own voice and spaces to create. One space that became crucial to that development was the Belmont Tunnel. Due to its central location in Downtown LA and open layout surrounded with massive walls, it quickly became the city’s most popular urban canvas. Over the next 20+ years, Belmont became a meeting place for hundreds of developing graffiti artists to hone their craft, settle their differences through graff battles, and pass on codes of ethics to the next generation.
Although the tunnel no longer exists, Crewest Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles helps it live forever with the brilliant exhibition which brought out iconic luminaries in this chosen artistic field.

Depeche Mode literally shut down blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street to give a free concert to tens of thousands of devoted fans. All was calm in a sea of black as the crowd danced and sang along to their favorite hits and were treated to brand spanking new tunes. April 15, 2009 -- Organized to coincide with U.S. Tax Day, conservative protesters staged "taxpayer tea parties" yesterday in over 700 American cities -- their own version of the 1773 Boston Tea Party which helped lead to the American Revolution.

At the top of the Santa Monica Pier, on the corner of Colorado Ave and Ocean Ave, a group of at least 100 hundred demonstrators spent hours waving American flags and signs with statements like "An Obama Nation is An Abomination," "Obama Spoke, Now You're Broke," and "No! To Higher Taxes," while others drove by and blew their horns in support.

On Saturday, April 11, KCRW hosted RadioActive, a Spring dance party featuring the station’s own skilled selectors at The Legendary Park Plaza in downtown Los Angeles, a beautiful space that is not normally open to the public. This was the first time KCRW put on a dance event featuring station DJ’s even though many of them have headlined some of the biggest venues in the world independently -- from the dance mecca of Ibiza and Central Park’s Summer Stage in NYC to Coachella and the Winter Music Conference.

After missing some of the earlybird acts (thanks to a post-Prince after party that was held in a dustbowl at the Indio airport til dawn), the day began with the electrified gypsy sounds of Gogol Bordello.

Last time I attended one of their punk rock bar mitzvahs, I was kicked in the head from the front, a schmuck hurled himself over a barricade and jumped on me from behind, and my camera got smashed into tiny morsels... MORE

Bon Jovi Melts Faces At The Staples Center
As Close As The Holy Ghostess

Last night I worshipped at the temple of Bon Jovi. With a light beer in one hand and a ticket stub in the other, I emerged like Moses on the mount, climbing high atop the giant stadium, a mere 10 rows from the roof of heaven. The Staples Center hosted Bon Jovi’s only tour stop in L.A., and before reaching the ethereal elevation of my assigned seat, I was granted better than front row access to snap a few pictures of the band.
